Come visit Grants Pass for a relaxing vacation where there are lots of fun and interesting things to do and places to visit without the typical tourist crowds. Grants Pass is a quaint historic town located in the heart of Josephine Valley. It is surrounded by heavily forested hills and divided by the wild and scenic Rogue River. In nearby Ashland you can be a part of the annual Shakespeare Festival and mingle with the local artists and musicians.

Grants Pass Hotels Offer Access To Many Activities

If you like hikes consider hiking on lower Table Rock trail. It is located between Grants Pass and Ashland just off Interstate 5. Close to any one of the Grants Pass hotels, it is a fairly easy hike for children and adults. There are shaded benches located along the well engineered trail. Once you reach the top you will have a panoramic view of the Rogue Valley with the Rogue River winding its way through. Spring time is the recommended time of year to hike to see the wildflowers and other flora and fauna and wildlife.

Rainey Falls is another great hike that follows the Rogue River. It is just north of Grants Pass at the Merlin exit off the I-5. The hike starts at the end of the Merlin/Galice Road. It is an easy hike for most children and adults that is about five miles long. This is a great late Spring and Summer hike. You can stop along the way and fish or take a quick dip in the river to cool off.

When staying in Grants Pass you will find there quite a few great restaurants where most will feature local wines as well as great food. If your stay includes a Saturday between March and November you must go to the Growers Market where local artisans, bakers, vineyards, farmers and ranchers offer their wares. Visitors are often pleasantly surprised at the wide range of stellar local wines, low prices and natural beauty of this town with its surrounding hills and mountains.

There are tree-lined streets with carefully preserved historic buildings to stroll by and shop in the vintage stores with eclectic merchandise. Grants Pass has been designated as a National Historic District.
